One of my goals set for this week is to process some legal documents, and among them is the "Philippine Postal ID". It is a government issued ID which is acceptable by banks and government agencies. So to start up my day, I woke up really early to have my latest photograph taken for the ID photo. (Only PHP 80, 5 minutes digital printing yehey!)
Under the heat of the summer wave, I have successfully arrived at the Philippine Post Office Building located in Lawton Avenue! I took a jeep from PGH (Philippine General Hospital) Taft Ave to go here.
Yay, tourist mode!

Post-Office is celebrating their 20th Anniversary, hence they got this exhibit that shows their milestones. I'm gonna post more about it next time.
I remember being greeted with my mom's former office colleagues from these windows. My mom was among the pioneer people who worked since the start of this company. Oh, those were the days.
Okay, back to the main objective of this trip.
How to Apply for Philippine Postal ID:
- To get a Postal ID, first you need a Barangay Clearance. Just go to your Barangay Hall and ask any officials to issue a certification that proves you are a legal resident of that Barangay.
- Go to Philippine Post Office located at Lawton Avenue.
- Go to Window 260 (right wing from the entrance) and prepare your (photocopied) credentials (ex: Birth Certificate, Marriage Contract, SSS / Comelec / School ID, Driver's License) and of course your Barangay Certificate.
- Fill up the application form and get interviewed (It's nothing serious really)
- You may choose to get your ID photo taken there at the nearby photographer. As of me, I brought my own ID photos!
- You should pay PHP 300 for the entire process.
And then I'm done. The ID was issued around 2-3 hours later. And I'm back to being a tourist again.
This is where the Postal IDs get processed. I really like the structure of the Post-Office building. It has that kind of 'old times' feel which I think is absolutely perfect for a vintage or classic, or maybe even spooky kind of photo shoot!
I also noticed that there are lots of people around the park, as well as local businesses and small 'sari-sari stores. Sobrang init talaga ng araw na to, obvious naman how vivid are the colors of this photo! Sunny to the nth level!
Outside the Post-Office building is a big tarpaulin of our former President Cory Aquino. If you take a look closely, her photograph is composed of different stamps assembled altogether to create this huge mosaic.
The big fountain in front of the building. If this was a real swimming pool, I would have jumped on it already!
The statue of Andres Bonifacio
Andres Bonifacio (1863-1897) was the founder of Katipunan - a secret society during the revolution against Spain during the Philippine wars.
The very old Metropolitan Theater which is just in front of the Post Office Building.
I just found out something new - this is where you can ride buses en route from Manila to Cavite.
And just a few moments before I rode the jeepney, I secretly took this photograph of a man who is seemingly waiting for something, or maybe someone.
There are really lots of places to go here in Manila. I'm planning to go out again to do some photo-walks this summer. Next maybe... my home for half-a-decade, Intramuros? :-)
