Eastwood and its epic Japanese Ramen Bar

No comments:

I've been living in Manila for almost 22 years, but believe me it was my first time to be in Eastwood Mall. Hahaha (Sorry di talaga kase ako gala, pramis!)

I felt like a little girl who was magically brought into a Disneyland-like place. SRSLY! The moment I took off the taxi, I was welcomed by the view of playful light colors, beautifully-designed buildings, and overall peaceful ambiance, yet filled with energetic city nightlife kind of positive vibe. The place also houses many corporate offices - namely Accenture, Dell, IBM, and others.

I was told that Eastwood Mall was named after Clint Eastwood visited the place. Really? -.- What a great way to fool a noob tourist. Haha!

I've been to nice places the same as Eastwood Mall. I frequently stay at its other 'sister places' namely Venice Piazza (McKinley Hill), Burgos Circle (Fort Global City), and once at Newport Mall (Resorts World). Well, maybe these feelings are just because the place is entirely new to me, or what. I think by size, it's larger, and it's got more restaurants and cool places to hangout - and of course, a mall!

Someone told me that if I'd want to go on a real food trip - Eastwood is the best place on Earth.

Well-played, Megaworld!
How I wish the entire Manila City could be as beautiful as this.

So, what's the objective of me being here? Yay! Here we go folks, the title already says it all - let me introduce you to the (absolutelyBEST authentic Japanese Ramen in Manila - RAMEN BAR!

I've always wanted to go to Little Tokyo (Makati) to have a little taste of Japan here in Manila, but a friend keeps on telling me to forget about Little Tokyo and just check out this "best Ramen ever here in Eastwood". Being a fan of anything noodles (pasta, pancit canton, lomi, instant cup noodles, and the glorious Lucky Me) and anything but food, edi go sa foodtrip.

I was welcomed by the very smiling and accommodating staff of Ramen Bar, and their cute huge framed Chibi artworks posted in their walls (Sorry, I wasn't able to take a photo).

Here's le ramen menu:

Their Big Bowl best sellers are Super Chasyu Ramen and R.B.S #1. Hmm, it's field with all Japanese terms, let's have some guide to read it:

Tamago - Soft boiled egg marinated for 48 hours
Tonkotsu - Pork bone soup
Chasyu - Sliced pork
Kakuni - Braised pork belly
Naruto - Ninja fish sticks
Nori - Dried seaweed
Negi - Spring onion

And so le RBS arrives!

R.B.S # 1 - Ramen Bar Special #1  - Php 380
Soy infused Tonkotsu Ramen topped with tamago, naruto, negi, chasyu, and kakuni

Le Translation: Soy infused pork bone soup Japanese noodle dish topped with marinated soft boiled egg, fish sticks, spring onions, sliced pork, and braised pork belly

And the le super chasyu arrives!

Super Chasyu Ramen - PHP 380

Soy infused Tonkotsu Ramen topped with overflowing slices of chasyu and tamago

Le Translation: Soy infused pork bone soup Japanese noodle dish topped with overflowing slices of sliced pork and marinated soft boiled egg

By the first sip of this Super Chasyu Ramen, I fell in love. I super love the Super Chasyu Ramen! The creamy / salty / soup, the overflow soft sliced pork (that feels like it melts in your mouth). The yellow, curly noodles are cooked very well. I heard Ramen Bar creates their own noodles.

I think this anime figure well describes my feelings while I was eating. Hahaha!

It's my first time to eat a noodle dish as good as this, seriously. I grew up munching cup noodles as a midnight snack or breakfast, but trust me - my STANDARDS when it comes to noodles has now been set into an all-time high. Not even a lifetime supply of Lucky Me noodles can beat the highest epic scores and enormous love I am now giving to Ramen Bar's Super Chasyu Ramen. Hahaha!

I was like, DEAR SUPER CHASYU RAMEN - Where have you been all my life? Haha!

This Neko-hat wearing girl who holds the chopsticks like an idiot is now officially in a relationship with Super Chasyu Ramen. ラーメン、私はあなたを愛して

Few interesting notes for those who'd like to eat here:
  • If you're finding a hard time visualizing what your meal would look like, you may request for the "tablet version" of their menu where the foods are displayed in images.
  • You cannot order extra soup with your ramen. You have to pay PHP 80 for extra soup.
  • The meal comes with free tea - I think they call it 'Rice Tea'. I didn't like the taste of the tea - it's visually deceiving. It looks like your usual iced tea, so your brain anticipates that it's sweet. But then when you drink it, it tastes bitter.
  • Ramen Bar also has one dessert named Tempura Ice Cream PHP 120. It looks cute, but we were not able to try it.
I particularly like this place's minimalist looks - it really feels comfortable. The combination of wood panels, wood tables and chairs, red, black, white colors, and their cute chibi wall illustrations really give the place its Japanese feel. We definitely enjoyed our food experience here at the best authentic Japanese restaurant in Manila.

I think I shall rate Ramen Bar with 5/5 stars.

Overall, my first ever Eastwood Adventure is very fun - I've seen a lot of cute pets roaming around. I particularly liked the twin dogs who looked like Mufasa, they attracted quite a lot of fans. And the mime actors! And the plenty of good restaurants! And the view And that big hamster ball! And the story-book like bridge! And the cute fountain! And world peace!

Okay, everything. Haha! And, plus 50 points because hooray, they also got McDonalds!
