I recently bought a new Nokia Lumia 920 - and my soul has instantly bonded to it. :) Lumia truly shines whenever the lights are out (low-light conditions). Here are some of the best photos I've taken so far.

Photos are lightly post-processed. There were minor touches of curves, brightness/contrast, and color balance - especially for the second photo because I have incorrectly burned it too much (maxed out the "cloudy" settings of the Nokia Camera which killed the awesome street lights so I had to tweak it a bit).

But nonetheless - the lights, the "car-trails" and just everything were all captured by the Nokia Lumia 920. :)

By the way, I am totally back (to blogging after nearly 2 years)! Nokia photos are too good to be just kept in a storage device!

I started this day processing my Postal ID, then during midday I took a trip at Ortigas. And later I was invited to attend Accenture Technology Talk at Shangrila Hotel Makati.

Accenture Technology Talk is a series of events aimed at IT professionals to help them upgrade their skills so they may succeed in their chosen careers. Together with recognized industry experts, we will provide valuable information for today’s experienced IT professionals, including the latest trends and developments in technology.

I went to the event ALONE. Yes, even most of my friends who are working in Accenture were not aware of this event. I got informed by this thru my email subscriptions in Jobstreet. When I found out it was free (and there'll be free foods, honestly), I registered. Luckily, I got a call confirming my invitation. Yey!

The main entrance was well organized. There was a registration table occupied with very smiling Accenture people. I remember this girl (but I forgot her name) who told me to re-fill up my raffle ticket with my details and hopefully I win.

They also have what they call the Networking Booth where you can list the names and contact details of your friends who you would like to refer in Accenture. I am not quite sure of the mechanics, but I read there that in the event that the referred person gets hired, there'll be incentives given to the one who referred. Each referrals also entitles you to another raffle ticket.

I didn't participate with this basically because MOST of my friends are already employed and most of them are already in Accenture. Haha!

Beside that booth is like a gaming booth where (I think) everyone can try to play with the Xbox Kinect. I'd really wanna try but I was kinda shy (given that I was alone in this event, any embarrassing moments would cause to just evaporate, hahaha!)

After registration, I was wowed by the main venue.

It reminds me of our venue setup in Marriott Hotel during our corporate Christmas Party.

Random Accenture videos were being played on screens. As I do not know much about Accenture (except for the fact that my friends are there), I found their videos really informative and helpful in knowing what Accenture really does.

Each attendee was provided with a name tag, raffle ticket, a clean sheet of paper (for notes), a cute lead pencil, and an event evaluation form.

This photo was posted thru Facebook mobile.

As per the said schedule, 6PM was supposed to be the start of the event but I was starting to wonder why there are still very, very few people who are seated.

... until it was announced that the buffet dinner is now served, I realized where are the people I've been looking for. Hahaha! Pumila na pala agad sila sa pagkain bago pa pumasok sa loob!

Lots of (I dont know what's their name) yummy foods were served. But when I got there, I barely got anything. Hahaha!

I clearly have no idea what I got from the buffet table. All I know is I was already out of options kase halos ubos na. Good food, though.

And here's the best thing I ever got... DESSERTS!

The main event started after everyone had their dinner.

About the Topic:

Metro style is the future for designers building applications for Windows 8. Join this session to learn about the new platform for building Metro style applications. Get an understanding of the platform design tenets, the programming language choices, and the integration points with the operating system and across Metro style apps. Learn how web developers can use their skills to build Windows 8 Metro style apps. If you are a .NET or Silverlight developer, get insights on how to use XAML to create apps for Windows 8 Metro style.

I learned a lot on this technology talk, particularly about the vision of Windows 8 (and how it hopefully brings on its edge to compete against Android and Apple). Although I'm not a big fan of Windows operated mobile devices (I am a sworn Android loyalist), after the tech talk I realized a lot of Windows' potentials in competing with today's technology. When I saw that it is now possible to develop games using HTML5 (Cut the Rope!) I got inspired to try my luck on the dev planet again. (Got focused as a business analyst for too long)

And here's the highlight of event:
Charaaaan! I won tonight's RAFFLE!!!!! Hahahaha!!!!!

Grabe I really wasn't expecting to win this - though I was honestly wishing. After the tech talk and the Question and Answer portions, it was time for the raffle. I think there were three HTC 7 Mozart phones given that night.

All the time the raffle was being done, I was actually chanting in my head my name to be picked, and my fingers were writing on air the letters: "H T C". As in, "Mary Elaine Gomez... Mary Elaine Gomez... Mary Elaine Gomez" loops in my head. Parang mambo jamboo will hoodoo you kind of chant. Hahaha! And so when the last name was drawn, I was very shocked when I heard my name!

At first I thought I was still hearing myself, pero nung ako pala talaga, all I was able to say was "OMG!" Haha! It was really my first time to win something this MAJOR on a raffle! Grabe, everything just went blur!

I can barely hear and see anything. Hahaha! I was in my most poker face when I was going to the stage and going back to my seat but actually I really wanted to scream my lungs out that time and say: "SHYEEET NANALO AKOOOO!!!"

Gaaad. I can't breathe during those moments - you know that feeling that you're so excited, happy, nervous, you wanted to whack your seatmate because of your excitement. You'd wish your bestfriends were here to share your happiness - pero wala sila. Hahahaha! #FOREVERALONELEVEL9999

THANK YOU SO MUCH, ACCENTURE. :)

Was the event a valuable use of your time?

IT WAS THE BEST!!! BEST DAAAAY EVAAAAAARRRR!!!!!

Next time, I'd be posting about my review about the HTC 7 Mozart phone. :)
After my earlier trip to Post-Office Building to process my Postal ID, my next stop was Makati and Ortigas. I was supposed to process my NBI Clearance at SM Megamall (because a blog informed me that there is an NBI center there) but to my disappointment, there isn't any. Whatever world. Anyways, tourist mode!

Spaghetti wiring along the posts in Gil Puyat Avenue Makati.

From Lawton, I took a jeep going to Buendia and from there, I took a bus going to Makati. The bus route includes going along Ayala Avenue.

Makati Medical Center (Hospital)

The JP Rizal Riverbank (I'm not sure if that's really its name). Home of the huge billboards along Guadalupe EDSA.

I arrived in SM Megamall and to my disappointment, there are no NBI Clearance Centers there. The guard told me that that NBI was already pulled out of the mall for a long time already. Obviously, I got so hungry! Here's for the lunch. KFC Chicken and Rice meal plus cheesy pasta bowl.

So yeah, Post Office Building, SM Megamall, next is PODIUM!

The construction of the SM Megamall extension

Next stop, random stroll at Shangrila Plaza EDSA.

The All New VOLVO S60 is on display

My super best friends of the day... doll shoes I got from SM Megamall Department Store and my nth bottle of Absolute Drinking Water! I'm at the bus going to Ayala Makati when this photo was taken.

Here's my favorite photo: the view from MRT Shaw Blvd station! :)
